lifepo4 battery, the difference between ternary lithium battery and lithium iron phosphate battery
The difference between the two types of lithium batteries is that the materials are different. That is to say, lithium iron phosphate batteries use lithium iron phosphate as the positive electrode, while ternary lithium batteries mainly use nickel cobalt aluminum or nickel cobalt manganese as the positive electrode.
What they have in common is that they are using graphene as the cathode material at the same time, and the difference is that they are different from the cathode material.
Differences between the second and third lithium batteries and lithium iron phosphate batteries
- Different service life
The cycle life of lithium iron phosphate battery is better than that of ternary lithium battery. The normal ternary lithium battery has a nominal cycle of about 2000 times, but its capacity will decline to half when it is recycled for no more than 1000 times.
Lithium iron phosphate battery is also used for 1000 cycles, and its capacity is generally only reduced to about 20%.
- Different energy density
The energy density of lithium iron phosphate ternary battery is higher than that of lithium iron phosphate battery. The energy density means the endurance. For batteries with the same capacity, the volume of lithium iron phosphate is much larger than that of lithium iron phosphate ternary battery.
- Different low-temperature resistance
The low temperature resistance of the ternary lithium battery is better than that of the lithium iron phosphate battery. For example, the ternary lithium battery can release about 70% of the power when the temperature is also below – 20 ℃, while the lithium iron phosphate battery can only release about 50% of the power at the same low temperature.
- Different security
The thermal stability of lithium iron phosphate battery(lifepo4 battery) is higher than that of ternary lithium battery, and lithium iron phosphate battery is safer.
- The price is different
One of the cathode materials used in the ternary lithium battery is cobalt, which is expensive. Therefore, the cost of the ternary lithium battery is much higher than that of lithium iron phosphate.
The above is the difference between the ternary lithium battery and the lithium iron phosphate battery. It can be seen from the summary that these two types of lithium batteries have their own strengths and advantages. For friends in the cold north, the ternary lithium battery has more advantages, while for those who are in financial difficulties, the lithium iron phosphate battery has more advantages.
So these two lithium batteries have their own strengths and weaknesses. How much do you know about lithium batteries? Tell me your opinion.
